I don’t know if you know this but communication is the most important element to succeed in coaching high school soccer. The art of communicating to the team is what coaching truly is. It enables you to let people understand exactly what you wish them to do and in what sense.

In soccer coaching, I’ve come to notice that generally the former players have assumed the responsibility of being coaches. Even then they have to deal with many issues in coaching young players. Most of these issues are a result of lack of communication. There are some major communication issues that you must understand as a coach to make your job easy and more effective.

These have been described one by one.

Coaches generally allow their emotions to become involved while watching their kids play. They forget that they have the duty to observe the players analytically rather than merely watching them play. They fail to notice the important points that could better their team’s performance. Here, they miss out on the important part of having a professional conversation aimed at getting a win.

Even though the coaches are well versed with the technicalities of the game, they are not trained specifically on communication. For example; in soccer coaching, many coaches are not aware of the utility of a flip chart or a video. It’s important for the coach to know the game well but if he is unable to communicate his thoughts, the training gets repetitive.

Coaching Youth Soccer

It is even more important in case of coaching high school soccer because the players are not new to the game. They have been doing these soccer drills for some time but at different levels. One effective method is to continuously vary the format of training in order to avoid the repetition of boring messages.

You’ll be amazed to know that coaches tend to forget sometimes that it is people who carry out the trainings. They tend to get carried away in the process of coaching and training. When a coach tries to instruct something to the play but does not use that player’s name, it creates confusion and is an apt example of bad communication.

There are certain guiding principles in football coaching which are as follows:

• Every message from the coach is equally important. So it’s necessary that they are deduced correctly.

• Use positive language that encourages players to give their best shot. Challenge them to be better rather than punishing them for being poor.

• Spend equal time with all players. Research in this filed shows that coaches tend to spend comparatively more time with the best players (up to seven times more!).

• Communicate the potential issues that could arise and have a solution ready.

• Reinforce the player’s self esteem by balancing praise with criticism. Tilt the balance a little more towards praise with respect to coaching high school soccer.

A primary thing to understand is that improvement in metabolisim and hormone regulation promptly translates itself into many many many good things in your body.

In a nutshell

A high protein intake makes it simpler for your body to make and keep lean tissue mass (muscle). This brings down your blood  pressure, makes living life more easy (no huffing and puffing when going up the stairs or lifting things), supports weight loss, increases your metabolic rate, redues insulin resistance and betters your sense of well being.

Football Forums And The Fans

A forum, or message board, is defined as an “online discussion website”.  The online software allows its members to post messages to one another.

The forums often have a specific genre linked to them.  One of the more popular subjects is a football forum, where users can chat about their teams, latest games, cup ties and matches.

These forums have been known to forge friendships, although football forums have been known to cause quite the opposite effect by fueling hatred and “flaming” between rival fans.

Some of the larger football forums on the Internet have as many as 30,000 regular members who post daily about their teams trials and tribulations.  The more regular and trusted members often become ‘moderators’, who are a sort of super-user that can edit and delete posts, topics and categories, aswell as move topics to their rightful place on the forums, and just perform general maintenance.  Being a moderator on a forum often brings kudos from other users, and as such it is quite a sort after position.

The die-hard fans who tend to use the football forums are generally the strongest supporters of the clubs, and are very often season ticket holders, or frequent matches on a regular basis.  Because the forums act as a strong platform where fans can meet one another, they are often used as a very successful tool for organising trips to away matches and competitions.

There are lots of football forums on the Internet.  Some of the forums cater better to different people’s tastes.  For example, there will probably be a forum purely for the football team that you support, even if it’s a small sunday-league team.  There are also forums with categories for every league in every country in the world.There really is something that everyone can enjoy.

Because of the sheer size of the Internet as well as the popularity of football as a sport, there is a huge market for forums.  Aswell as the huge amounts of people there are also a huge amount of tastes that cannot be satisfied with one large forum – some users will prefer the intimacy of a small forum with a select few users who all know each other, over the monolithic forums with thousands of new posts every hour.

For a lot of people a football forum will be the first web site that they visit, and one of the first activities they will do in the morning will be to check for latest posts on the forum about their team, or for replies on a specific topic.  Football is so close to so many people’s hearts it is totally understandable that football forums get so much traffic and so much of a following.

Although football forums have brought a huge amount of joy and a great past time for so many people, they have been known to cause pain and destruction.  Just like any other sort of social platform on the Internet, it can be open to cyber bullying.  Most forums carry private messaging functions, allowing members to privately message other members – this can lead to users getting bullied in private, away from where moderators and administrators can control what is being said.  As well as this, it has been known that football forums can be used by hooligans to organise crime against rival gangs and clubs.

Coaching Soccer Drills: How To Shoot Effectively

It is well known that in coaching soccer drills, every skill and teamwork imparted to the players has only 1 objective; to shoot the goal. It requires both skill and character to produce quality shooting. But there is something more that is equally important and that is a persuasive attitude.

Every player should take care of this but it is more upon forward players to shoot the ball. While teaching soccer, put shooting on the top of your priority list.

There are so many things that may result from a shoot. Shots can be redirected into the goal. The goalkeeper might drop the ball exactly at the feet of your forward player. Unruly shots can turn into brilliant passes. Ground shots may return. You might even score a goal directly from the shot.

At the time of soccer practice, the attacking players always try to make the most of every goal-scoring opportunity. They are trained in a way that they think of nothing else but scoring goals. In England, these attacking players are called sniffers. This happens because they are always reviewing scoring chances.

Soccer Coaching

They take every chance for a shot as if it is the last chance that they’ll ever get. They are always present when the opportunity is right. Amazingly, they have the ability to be in the wrong place at the right time. So, in coaching soccer drills motivate the players to kick the ball whenever they can.

As a general rule, any kick that causes the ball to go towards the goal is considered as a shot. But the most successful technique to drive the ball is striking it through the middle by using the laces of the foot. Make sure that the player’s head is over the ball, his toe remains extended, and his upper body keeps steady.

In coaching drills, your players should learn to shoot the ball low and wide of the goalie. In such a scenario, high shots are less preferred that low ground shots. The reason is that low shots are especially difficult for the goalies to stop as they have to move their hands a greater distance than for high shots.

Young players while practicing inside regulation sized goals, tend to score more by kicking the ball over the head of the goalkeeper. You must discourage your players to do this as it instills the habit of shooting high goals. In coaching soccer drills, stop this practice by not letting your players to practice in adult sized goals.

So get going and train your team members to see and confirm the goalkeeper’s position before they shoot the ball into the goalpost.

Coaching High School Soccer: Tips On Mental Toughness

When it comes to coaching high school soccer, of all the things that influence a player’s performance on field is the conduct and attitude of the coach. The coach can build a mentally tough team only when he has devised a plan that supports a positive attitude aimed at winning.

In a player’s career, the coach is an important and a prominent authority figure. The coach’s body language, mind-set, and expressions can shape, strengthen, or harm the player’s confidence.

In coaching youth soccer, mental toughness is about meeting challenges with positive self control. Therefore, the coach must be the starting point in both practice and competition.

The coach will find that a disciplined post-match routine is helpful in ensuring that he or she does not get either too high or too low. A successful coach will use ideas, stories, and metaphors, videos, and so on to shape the collective mindset of the team and prepare them to be mentally tough in performance.

Coaching Youth Soccer

In football coaching, the coach who wants a mentally tough team must demonstrate a controlled way to deal with emotional setbacks despite personal feelings.

When the coach exhibits a strong belief in team’s capacity to achieve the goals notwithstanding the hindrances, the team will get an agenda for developing a similar attitude.

In coaching high school soccer, handling mistakes and failure is another important area of responsibility for the coach. How coaches react to failure decides the player’s motivation and his desire to towards correcting the mistakes. A coach has got only two choices.

One is to use failure as an opportunity to give the players feedback on how to improve. Convince them to recommit themselves to the endeavor with renewed enthusiasm.

Second, use failure as evidence of the player’s inadequacy and proof that they cannot meet expectations. This poignant overreaction will de-motivate the players.

To make players mentally strong, one way which can be adopted is by accepting responsibility for their thoughts, feelings, and actions and rejecting all possible excuses. While soccer coaching, the coaches can help the players by questioning and listening them rather than always telling the players of their mistakes. They should be encouraged to talk about what they could have done better.

Such an exercise is called self-reference. Self reference can be encouraged in the players by the coach to motivate them to perform better. The coach can discuss the situation by asking the players their reaction rather than giving them a definition of the situation. In order to explain, we can take the instance “How do you feel you played?” or “Why do you feel you behaved that way?”

This way the players must think through and account for his or her reactions which are a vital part of the learning process.
