Creative 65th birthday gift gives voice to a winning soccer team

Monday, October 26th, 2009

When varsity soccer coach Harold Jenkins bid farewell to his seniors at his team’s annual award celebration, it also happened to be his 65th birthday. On that meaningful day, he received a memorable 65th birthday group gift that was far more personal than any soccer plaque his players or fellow coaches could ever give him. He received a keepsake CD filled with the voices of his colleagues, his graduating players, and their parents, expressing their thanks and warm wishes. The recordings ranged from funny to sentimental, and demonstrated to him what he had meant to the Fighting Tigers.

“I go out there and urge my players to make me proud every day. I’ve always focused on the team, and when they gave me this gift it demonstrated how much my philosophy meant to them personally”.

The players and their parents wanted to give the coach a surprise present that was very personal. However, with hectic schedules, the players and their parents knew that the group gift would have to be simple for everyone to contribute to.

The present the coach received is called LifeOnRecord.

Team mom, Kelly Anderson, got the idea when her husband gave her a LifeOnRecord CD as a fun birthday gift.

The process is simple: friends and family call a toll-free number and are directed to record a favorite memory, wish, or story. There’s no limit on the number of callers that can phone-in or on the total number of recordings you receive. The recordings can be downloaded for free using iTunes so that you can make your own compact disc, or LifeOnRecord can create a keepsake CD with a personalized label and metal case. An unlimited plan with free download capability into iTunes costs $49.99, or an unlimited plan with a keepsake CD costs $74.98.

It is a unique, affordable service that allows you to create a highly personal gift with ease.

“The players and their families that gave me this gift mean a lot to me, and this is the perfect way for me to remember them and their impact after my coaching days are over. The mom who organized and put this together is my hero”.

If you’d like to be a hero to your loved one, you can purchase LifeOnRecord and give them a meaningful birthday present.

Here are the apparent top 20 sports in America!

Sunday, October 25th, 2009

Without much doubt, the 5 at the top should definitely be here, but what about the others?

  1. American Football – This may be the obvious one but its true.
  2. Baseball – I believe every American has or will have played Baseball at some point in their life.
  3. Basketball – over 300 million people play world wide and America started the NBA.
  4. Hockey – Just like America, this sport is never boring or monotonous, always something new.
  5. Golf – Always considered a posh mans sport, and it is, except Tiger Woods really set it off for everyone.
  6. Wrestling – Gets massive viewings, but some still don’t think it is a sport.
  7. Tennis – Well, Venus and Serena kind of say it all really, plus the likes of Roddick.
  8. Skateboarding – Definitely one of the fastest growing sports in the world, with the help of America.
  9. Surfing – Yeah man, this was were surfing really took off.
  10. Ice Skating – This is taken very seriously over the world, and in America.
  11. Boxing – Immense, probably my favourite, but needs a bit more TV time.
  12. Soccer – Slowly becoming a big sport, with names like David Beckham coming in.
  13. Archery – A guaranteed final spot in the Olympics for the Americans with the likes of Geena Davis, training harder than ever.
  14. Volleyball – Everybody enjoys volleyball, playing and getting involved, or just watching it’s all good.
  15. Cycling – A Strong and athletic sport, but never really took hold of the nation.
  16. Track and Field – Up until recently the Americans have completely dominated Track and Field events at the Olympics.
  17. Horse Racing – Still very much considered the English sport, but the Americans have some very good if not better riders.
  18. Rock Climbing – A great way to enjoy a holiday, out on the rocks, or indoors.
  19. Extreme Sports – The kind of sports where you know that you could die.
  20. Auto Racing – This has been left till last, because some consider it not to be a sport – however I do.

Is this the right culmination of sports? Add more if you can? What a great way to find out – try Las Vegas holidays or New York holidays to really find out

Coaching Youth Soccer: 8 Facts You Must Know

Saturday, October 24th, 2009

Youth Soccer Coaching Drills

When Coaching Youth Soccer and as with any profession, there is a list of things that a soccer coach should always follow. You may say that some of these are just simple common sense, but they are not for sure common practice:

1. Don’t make speeches. This may not seem important but kids really get bored and distracted when coaches have the habit of making incredible long speeches and instructions. The age of your players is nor important. What is important is that you keep your speeches short, sweet and right to the point.

2. Don’t complicate things. Strip every drill to its basics and test it with your players making sure they are ready to move forward and perform it well. You can test this by showing the kids a complicated soccer diagram of a drill with fancy arrows and dozens of instructions, you’ll lose their interest.

3. Don’t be a ball boy- it’s critical that you understand that it’s not your task to run and catch the balls. This can affect the relationship between you and your players. Make it as a rule that every player is responsible for their shots (that includes getting the balls.)

4. Do you have kids helping with getting the balls? If that’s the case, don’t let them join the training session. This simply signals a laxity in discipline- ball boys are just there to get the ball. If they want to join in the practice, they have to join the team like everyone else.

5. Never, ever criticize the player. Never blame a player for missing a goal or a shot. Point out the flaws in their technique or skill and do that calmly. Screaming at a player for being ’stupid’ is a great way to make them want to leave your team.

6. While Coaching Youth Soccer, explain it clearly and as briefly as possible. Next it’s time to show it. i’m sure you’ll do well and you’re players will understand perfectly everything you teach. Conversely, don’t try and demonstrate something that you can’t do.

7. Health and safety should always be foremost in a coach’s mind. This means making sure that the ground and the equipment are in good shape before your soccer training session starts. Remember that if a kid sprains his ankle because the ground was slippery, then it’s technically your fault.

8. Don’t leave the parents out in the dark. It’s important that you interact with your player’s parents in a way that they feel integrated and well informed of what it’s happening. Parents are a powerful ally when it comes to keep your coaching activities running smoothly.

When Coaching Youth Soccer, these are important aspects that every coach should consider. If you’re a youth soccer coach and you’d like to learn how to dramatically improve your players’ skills and make training more fun in record time visit us right now at SoccerDrillsTips . com.

why not start your own website on Soccer

Saturday, October 24th, 2009

If Soccer is your thing then why not start your own website on the topic!

Introducing the World’s FASTEST and EASIEST Custom Website Builder

If you thought that building an Soccer website was difficult then think again!

Now you can create and build a complete custom Soccer website with point and click and drag and drop ease in a matter of Minutes with the NEW 90 second website builder software.

There has never been a better time to get that Soccer online idea up and running, and tell the world all about it.

The software requires no knowledge of html to use. In fact, it is not even an HTML editor, but an HTML generator. You don’t even have to know there is HTML used. Just put images, text and other object on your page and your page is ready! You CAN add any existing HTML to your page using the edit page and object HTML tools.

Other traditional programs use a document (word processor) method for layout, where you can not pick up objects and drag them where you want them to go on the web page. With this new software, you can drag and drop the objects anywhere you want. Giving you full control over the layout. You can even put objects on top (or below) other objects!

Traditional HTML editors use Dynamic Page Layout , which means that the first object on the page will also determine the position of the second object. Resizing or moving the first object will affect the complete layout of the page. You can’t overlap objects when using Dynamic Page Layout.

The software generates a Fixed Page Layout. The objects on page have a fixed position which is not affected by other objects. This also allows you to overlap objects and give you more control over the layout of the site.

But the software can do much more than this. Just add banners, navigation bars, ready-to-use javascripts and many other things that you can’t do using a regular website editor.

So building that Soccer website could not be easier, go on you know you can do it!

Once you have your website builder software, there is an online resource members area where you can watch step by step videos of how to set up each stage of your first website. We also provide you with some custom made editable templates so you can get started straight away, the members area is full of Internet Marketing advice including  e-books on how to get traffic to your new site and lots more!

When Do Manchester United Tickets Become Available?

Saturday, October 24th, 2009

Tickets for Manchester United games area among the most popular for fans of Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League matches.

The team gives priority to its One United fan club members for home games by letting them apply for tickets in a lottery. Fans who enter the lottery must enter 4-6 weeks before game day and will receive their tickets in the mail (fans in some countries might have to pick up their tickets at the box office on game day). For games such as Champions League matches, the application period might be closer to game day. For accurate information about upcoming games, the easiest way is to subscribe to the One United newsletter. Becoming a member of One United and entering the lottery is your best bet to get tickets for a particular game because home game tickets very rarely go on sale to the general public.

Season ticket holders get priority for Manchester United away games. Manchester United usually gets an allocation of only several thousand tickets, and the demand for them is much higher than the number available so One United members and the general public typically don’t have an ability to buy these tickets. Another option is to purchase tickets directly from the host team, but the downside to this is that you will be sitting with the home team fans. Tickets for games at Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, or for the local derby at Manchester City will be especially hard to get, but your chances of getting tickets improve when Manchester United plays at some of the less popular Premier League teams. Your chances of seeing Manchester United on away games improve during the Group Stage of the Champions League. Checking the respective team’s website will give you accurate information about ticket sale dates.

Because Manchester United is one of the world’s most popular teams, getting tickets for most games will not be easy to do. Even with very careful planning, there is no guarantee that you will be successful in obtaining tickets. If all other methods are unsuccessful, there are many brokers who sell Manchester United tickets, but usually at prices that are significantly higher than their face value.
